We encourage adoption of a standardized approach to website carbon calculations, for more clarity, understanding, and to prevent greenwashing. To calculate the emission of a web page, we use these data points:
- Data transfer over the wire
- Energy intensity of web data
- Energy source used by the data center
- Carbon intensity of electricity
- Website traffic
